Fire hydrant gushes in Woodland Hills area after crash

A motorist struck a fire hydrant Wednesday in Woodland Hills, causing a gusher to shoot 30 feet in the air, soaking Victory Boulevard until firefighters were able to stop the flow of water.

The fire hydrant at Victory Boulevard and Independence Avenue, just west of De Soto Avenue, was knocked over about 11 a.m.

Los Angeles firefighters were able to shut off the water in about 15 minutes, said a photographer at the scene. There were no injuries.
