The touchscreen controller gives you a clear overview of every heating zone in your home, and adjustments can also be made from the smartphone app – or from the appropriate TRV, since each has its own screen and controls.
The cost of labor drives the price up, though. Expect to pay $250 to $750 for parts and installation of adjustable vents on each radiator, according to Paul Shay, a master plumber and heating consultant.

Another interesting feature is the built-in motion detector; the Nest uses this in combination with your phone’s location to determine when you’re out of the house. It also enables the Nest to flash up information as you walk past, such as a clock, temperature details or a weather forecast. As a final trick, the Nest Thermostat can integrate with a Nest Protect appliance, if you have one, to show alerts on its screen or automatically shut off the heating if carbon monoxide is detected – a thoughtful touch.
The Google Home integration enables users to set the temperature, cook time, check the status of the cooking cycle and search for recipes all through voice commands. It’s not the first time that the company has supported voice control, however, with a similar skill also available for Amazon Alexa.
