After announcing it’d be adding HomeKit support for its C by GE smart lighting collection back in May of 2017, GE is finally making good on its promise (after two delays, that is). First reported by Rob LeFebvre over at Engaget, HomeKit compatibility will be added to the C-Reach hub for two C by GE bulbs: the white C-Life and the temperature-shifting C-Sleep. As the names suggest, C-Life bulbs are for general use, while C-Sleep bulbs adjust their warmth based on the time of day in order to help you wind down for sleep and wake up refreshed.
Netatmo radiator valves allow you to control the level of heat in each room of your home, assuming each radiator in the house has a valve installed. Once installed you can set a heating schedule for each room and do things like have the living room one temperature and your bedroom another. Using the valves you can turn off the heat in unused areas of the home and still keep the rooms you are in nice and warm.

As well as the default schedule, Evohome has four programmable quick actions: Economy reduces zone temperatures by 3˚C; Away sets every zone to a pre-set temperature, which is handy if you go on holiday; Day off changes the schedule to match the weekend, so you’re warm if you’re home during the week; and there’s a Custom mode, which lets you set your own special schedule. We use Custom mode as a guest mode, turning up the heat in the spare bedroom when we have people to stay.
Additional features: Furnaces are built with stainless steel secondary heat exchangers. Modulating (multi-stage) gas valves allow furnaces to operate on a quieter low-heat setting unless thermostat calls for more heat. Designed for four-way multi-position installation — 35 inches tall and lighter weight than previous counterparts.
It took some patient fiddling around with my boiler to figure this out. I imagine that anyone with a smart thermostat or a more advanced boiler should have a much easier time.

They make a gentle mechanical whirring sound when a new stage of a heating schedule kicks in, which is particularly comforting when you’re tucked up in bed fearing the cold. The LED display also lights up when a new stage begins, but you can stop this happening in the app settings if you feel you don’t need it.
